Tax Tips:
– the hours of frustration you spend doing your own bookkeeping isn’t a tax deduction, outsourcing your bookkeeping is.
– your pets are not deductible as dependants (although I think they should be)
– a desk in your laundry room never used to count as a home office. Developments in the world over the last few years have relaxed this rule. See the CRA website for eligibility criteria and calculations.
– to avoid penalties and interest, always file your T4s, GST, and taxes on time. Even if you have to amend it later, it won’t cost you extra (of course if you like to donate to the government, then by all means take your time).
